Paddy Treacy released “Me And My Old Banjo” as a single on 4 February 2026 through Sharpe Music.
Paddy Treacy knew from a young age that music was his path. Whether it was a traditional session, a fleadh, or listening to country music on the radio, music was all he ever wanted to do.
After years of honing his craft and a win in TG4’s Glór Tíre, 22-year-old “Banjo Paddy” is now well known across Ireland. He has become a familiar face on the entertainment scene, performing at festivals, concerts, and dances nationwide.
“I was given a tenor banjo and a plectrum when I was nine, and I’ve never looked back,” says Paddy. “One night, I mentioned to Gerard Dornan that I had a few ideas for a song called Me and My Old Banjo. A few days later, he sent me a demo, and I loved it. I immediately rang Jonathan Owens for studio time, and here it is – exactly what I wanted.”
Me and My Banjo is a lively, upbeat recording, made for jivers. The single comes from Paddy’s forthcoming album, which he is currently working on. “I won’t say it couldn’t be the title track!”
